Solving the unsolved. Rethinking the impossible.
The MELTR story began with a question no one seemed to be answering:
If traditional recycling leaves around 90% of plastic waste unrecycled, what would an alternative look like?
For decades, recycling systems have been built around the needs of virgin plastic manufacturing – requiring waste to be intensively cleaned, sorted, shredded, and processed back into near-virgin granules before reuse. This approach is expensive, energy-intensive, and often ineffective. Worse still, it can create new problems, such as microplastic pollution from shredding processes.
At MELTR, we flipped the problem on its head. Instead of forcing waste to fit outdated systems, we asked: What if we designed a machine that could make new products directly from waste plastic, in one efficient step? That question became the foundation of our journey.
We envisioned a system that could continuously process bulk plastic waste, tolerate contamination and mixed polymers, operate with low energy input, and be modular, compact, scalable, and portable. Then came the hard part: turning that vision into reality.
Years of experimentation followed. We built and tested small bench-top models, refining our understanding and consulting experts in material science, chemistry, physics, and engineering. We failed often, but each failure brought us closer to a solution. Eventually, we developed a working prototype that was robust, reliable, and remarkably simple to operate. That original unit is still in use today.

The final stage was scaling up. With significant investment and dedicated R&D, we built a commercial-scale MELTR unit that delivers on our original promise: a continuous, electric, induction-based recycling system that transforms plastic waste into valuable products without shredding, sorting, or washing.
Now, in 2025, MELTR is ready to commercialise. Our Australian-developed, patent-pending technology is set to redefine plastic recycling. By focusing on the waste itself and not the limitations of legacy systems, we’ve created a solution that’s economically efficient, environmentally responsible, and operationally flexible.
This is not just a new machine. It’s a new way of thinking. And it started with a simple question: What if there was a better way?
